What A Mother Means To Me:
Poem By: Brittany Eldridge
It means staying up all hours of the night to soothe my cries.
As I scream louder with every try
It means holding my hand tight on the very first day of school.
And learning new things as well as discipline and rule.
It means tough love at times, and making sacrifices
to keep a straight line
It means watching me as I shanay and leap across stage and land, and being my biggest fan.
It means buying school supplies and helping me pick out classes while learning responsibilities multiply.
It means working fulltime, managing bills and keeping a smile on at all time.
It means picking out my prom dress, as you watch me twist and twirl, your baby girl.
It means standing in the crowd, cheering for me on graduation day, standing proud.
It means letting my hand go, allowing my wings to fly. With a quick cry and a sigh.
It means being a single mom, and looking back and seeing your strength.
Through all the years in length.

~This was a poem that I wrote to my mother a few years back for Mother's Day.
